https://linkedin.com/in/mrdunbarHey there, my name is Matt Dunbar. I grew up loving video games, and mostly gravitated toward PC games. Starcraft, Diablo, Command & Conquer, and others molded me in my formative years. As PC gamers know, this is a hobby eventually leads to building your own PCs, which I first undertook during a High School internship. My passion for building and fixing computers led me to attending college at Montana Tech, where I graduated with a Bachelor's in Network Technology and an Associate's in Web Development and Administration. During my time in college, I landed an internship at NorthWestern Energy, who hired me full time as a Security Analyst following my graduation in 2011. In the subsequent years, I progressed to a Senior role, and soon after to a Lead role. My experience has given me a breadth of knowledge in many topics, allowing me to think outside the box, troubleshoot problems, and stay cool in a crisis. I love the challenge of exploring new technology, learning something new, and sharing knowledge with others.
However, working in IT isn't my only passion. I'm a husband, a father, a skier, a gamer, and a thespian. My wife and I own a small arts and crafts supply store here in Butte, Montana. We enjoy outdoor activities and encourage our kids to explore and learn about things they're interested in. I'm also a musician, and have the privilege of being the founding Board President for the Mining City Choral Union, a 501(c)3 non-profit community choir. I also serve on the Board of the NorthWestern Energy Employees Federal Credit Union. These experiences have allowed me to grow my leadership skills and help set the direction for these organizations.
